A really huge thanks to The Shearers Arms Tavern at Ormeau for hosting a fun fundraising day on Australia Day.  The managers read Mia’s story in the paper and immediately contacted us about raising funds.   We are extremely thankful.  They are an amazing group of people who love their workplace.   The community rallied behind Mia even though they have never met her.  We met so many beautiful, warm people during the day and felt so supported and cared for.

The staff and community raised over $5000 for Mia in just 1 day!!!  There was hair shaving, a dunk tank and hermit crab racing.  Many staff members bravely shaved their heads, beards and eyebrows.  The dunk tank was hilarious!!   They also held fun children’s races for the kids.

A highlight was Mia’s Aunty Jenny shaving her head to raise money.  She suddenly made the decision on the day and absolutely shocked all of us, especially her 3 kids.  Thanks Jen for your courageous, gutsy decision.

If you are near the Ormeau area, please pop in for a cool beverage, delicious meal and say hi to all of the friendly staff and locals.  Their meals are big and delicious and you will feel like family immediately.
