Movement For Mia

A Celebration of Mums Fundraising High Tea

Thank you to all of the amazing Mums who came along to A Celebration of Mums Fundraising High Tea at The Summit Restaurant, Mt Coot-tha.  The atmosphere felt very, very special.  It was a lovely morning enjoying quality time with family and friends, connecting with new friends, eating delicious treats and listening to inspirational speakers.

We live in such an fabulous community.  Not only in raising funds for Mia but also in supporting us and Mia emotionally.  It does take a village to raise a child, but it also takes a big supportive, community network to help a family through a life changing event.  Knowing we have so many people see where we have come from and continue to follow and support us on this journey, helps us immensely.  There is no way we could’ve kept going without the support we have received.

A special thank you to Fiona Dann, Nicole Rohrig and Mel Okimoto for giving so much of their time in organising and creating a beautiful event.  It was one of the best events I have ever been to and so many ladies commented that they look forward to coming again next year.

Thanks to Diane Ames for her inspirational speech about motherhood akin to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.  Life can be bumpy at times.  It is definitely challenging and exhausting, similar to climbing a mountain.  There are also the great achievements like when you reach the summit and you see how far you have come.  We are lucky to be climbing our mountain with your family’s guidance, love and support.

Rani Farmer, thank you so much for sharing your journey through motherhood and post-natal depression.  So much of what you shared, I felt myself nodding along to.  It is so important that everyone finds support when they need it from family and friends.  Having a network to lean on is so important.

Thanks to Kellie Shaw for the beautiful flowers decorating the tables.

Thanks to Kenmore Village Florist, Jo McLucas from Indooroopilly State School, Bianca from Transform Hair at The Gap and Wine Emporium at Newstead for the lucky door prizes.
We look forward to seeing you all at the next event.
